Who is Patricia Ellen Jones?
Patricia Ellen Jones is a media relations consultant specializing in cause-related marketing, advertising and media relations. A former producer for NBC News, Patricia brings her journalistic acumen to creating highly successful strategic media campaigns. With an arsenal of contacts in print, television, radio and online media, Patricia has generated a vast portfolio of national and local media placements for clients.
She started her career at NBC News as a Page, where she worked on shows including WNBC Today in New York, Sunday Today, Saturday Night Live, and Late Night with David Letterman. She joined NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw as a production assistant and was quickly promoted to production associate, researcher and producer. She wrote and produced breaking news and feature stories for Tom Brokaw and NBC News correspondents. While at NBC, Patricia traveled nationally and internationally for the newscast to remote locations including the White House, the U.S. Capitol, the 1992 Democratic and Republican national conventions and the WWII 50th Anniversary Ceremonies in Normandy and Paris, France.
Patricia joined the international public relations agency Hill & Knowlton, where she used her background as a journalist to develop and implement strategic marketing and public relations activities for clients. Her work at Hill & Knowlton earned a prestigious CIPRA (Creativity in Public Relations Award) and a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Big Apple Award.
Patricia was employed at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) as Director of Media Relations and was soon promoted to Vice President of Media Relations and Advertising. At the ASPCA, she led a team of four staff members and oversaw all communications for the nation’s oldest animal welfare organization for seven years. She directed the production of several highly successful national public service campaigns featuring celebrities including Mary Tyler Moore, Russell Simmons, Drea De Matteo and Kim Cattrall. Patricia was awarded the ASPCA Presidential Leadership award in 2001.
In 2005, Patricia began her own consulting service. Among her projects was raising funds for the rescue efforts carried out during Hurricane Katrina, in which she single-handedly generated media coverage on all television news networks and in top national print publications for Noah’s Wish, a non-profit organization that was working to save animals affected by the disaster. This media coverage of the Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts resulted in over $8 million in donations to the nonprofit organization.
An animal welfare advocate, Patricia has provided pro-bono services to the Oasis Sanctuary, SNIP (Spay/Neuter Intervention Project) Kitty Caretakers of Queens, Linda’s Feral Cat Assistance Project, Amazon Cares, Animal Rescue Corps and Kinship Circle.
Patricia attended New York University and earned a B.A. with a dual major in Broadcast Journalism and Politics. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America.
